As HAVELSAN, we have adopted the principle of taking responsibility not only for today's world but also for tomorrow's world, relying our business practices on sustainability, and striving for a world where not only today's but also future generations can live. As a company that develops and offers critical products and solutions in the defense industry, we focus on minimizing environmental and social impacts by adopting the principles of green transformation, sustainable technology, corporate culture and employee satisfaction, which are also among the goals of the Presidency of Defense Industry. Sustainability is a sensitive issue that we take care to put at the center of every step within our company, from the design and production of our products to services we provide, from our supply chain to our customer relations, from the loyalty of our employees to increasing the welfare of society.
While supporting the diversity of our workforce and supply chain in terms of social sustainability, we also carry out various social responsibility projects to improve the welfare of our employees and increase their contribution to our society. Through HAVELSAN HAYAT Association, we provide opportunities for our employees to take part in responsibility projects by promoting unity and solidarity within our company in every issue prioritised and needed in our society. With our Engineer Kid Corporate Social Responsibility Project, we aim to raise awareness and national consciousness about engineering in young people and children under the age of 18 especially in disadvantaged regions.
While contributing to the formation of our corporate culture through the social clubs we have activated within the company, we also provide opportunities for social activities that increase the belonging and happiness of our employees. Thanks to HAVELSAN Academy Portal, we continuously offer more and more trainings in various subjects to encourage our employees who are in fond of self-development. In 2023, we supported the development of our employees within the company by providing 28 hours of training per person on 3,362 different topics. In order to enhance our diversity within the company, we are doing our best to increase the number of female employees, which is currently 670. By providing internship opportunities to 500+ students in 2023, we provide opportunities for future engineers to become a part of our company.
At TEKNOFEST and science festivals, over 3,000 children experienced the engineering profession through the Mars Rover Workshop, which covers areas such as robotic coding, machine learning, and artificial intelligence under the "Engineer Kid" brand.
As part of the HAVELSAN Engineer Kid social responsibility project, a storybook explaining artificial intelligence technologies to children was written by a group of volunteers from HAVELSAN. This book is distributed at TEKNOFEST, science festivals, and various locations throughout Türkiye.

As one of the leading software companies in Türkiye, green transformation is one of the main goals of our company. We emphasize the implementation of the European Union's Green Deal in both our own company and our business partners in order to promote environmental sustainability in our supply chain. In order to achieve this goal, realizing projects that support and/or enable Digital Transformation is among our top priorities. With our Smart Port Projects, we aim to be a part of the emission trading system in the maritime sector. With our simulation and training systems, we make a significant contribution to carbon emissions indirectly. In our premises at the HAVELSAN Technology Campus with our Smart Building, which was designed with environmental sensitivities in mind, we continue to meet the requirements of ISO 14001 certificate, expand recycling projects within the scope of the Zero Waste project, and accelerate the installation of a Solar Power Plant in our facility to reduce carbon emissions.

With the R&D investments in our company, we focus on developing technologies that minimize environmental impacts and use renewable resources efficiently. In this way, we increase sustainability in the defense industry, reduce our carbon footprint in the sector and try to protect natural resources. By adopting the principles of economic sustainability, we aim to achieve longer-term economic gains. We prioritize creating new business opportunities by developing more efficient business processes and offer environmentally friendly solutions. In this way, we also support our industry to stand upon more sustainable foundations.
We are strengthening our company in sustainability issues every day by increasing our business partnerships with SMEs, conducting cost-effective pricing studies with our suppliers, and preparing projects to manage issues such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, process optimization, resource utilization, data analysis and predictability with our Artificial Intelligence Center.
We are building a sustainable ecosystem with 800+ approved suppliers in our Business Ecosystem and building a supplier network that grows and develops with HAVELSAN. We evaluate “Environment” and “Occupational Health and Safety” practices and Management System Effectiveness certifications as important criteria within the scope of the “Company /Performance Evaluation Process” that we apply for the companies in our Business Ecosystem. In this context, we ensure that the business partners we work with also contribute to the environment and sustainability. We continue our R&D activities in 15 different projects with an expenditure of 2 billion Turkish Liras to pave the way for more innovative ideas.
